Lily's journey began at the young age of 2. She began vomiting occasionally, which we thought may be a stomach virus. We also started noticing that her balance was a little unsteady. We watched her for 10 days, but there were no signs improvement. We were referred to a pediatric neurologist, which we thought was strange since I was sure this was all inner ear related. We met with the neurologist who then ordered a stat MRI. We no idea the journey we were about to begin.
As we sat waiting for the results, a million thoughts went through our minds about the possibilities, the "what if's" and "could be's". That's when we received the unimaginable news that our sweet baby girl had a 2 inch tumor in her brain. At that moment our world turned upside down. No one was prepared for that finding.
Lily spent 4 years in treatment, countless rounds of chemo, surgeries, radiation and transfusions. The hospital became our second home, staff became our family. Lily never let cancer define her, she was fierce, sweet, strong, and sassy. Her smile would light up the room. We are forever grateful for the time we were gifted with Lily.
Lily always had a "friend" (as she affectionately called them) and a blanket with her. They brought her comfort during every hospital visit, "finger poke", test, and infusion. In honor of our sweet baby girl, Lily, we created the Love, Lily foundation. Our mission is to provide comfort and support to families facing the unimaginable.
