Lily's birthday blanket and friend drive

Our daughter, Lily, was diagnosed with brain cancer when she was 2 years old. She loved dancing and singing, building Legos, her “friends” (stuffed animals) and Mickey and Minnie. We've watched Trolls, Beauty and the Beast and Coco more times than I can count, and she absolutely loved her family and spending time with them. Lily can light  up any room, she was funny and loved playing with her siblings. She had the best laugh, she was sweet and thoughtful and strong willed. She had a great attitude, always playful and her strength was unbelievable. She never let cancer define her. Even at such a young age, she was an inspiration to  others. Lily passed away at age 6. She is missed beyond words but we are so thankful for the time  we were gifted with her. 

Lily’s birthday is September 10, she should be celebrating her 11th birthday this year. September also happens to be Childhood Cancer Awareness month. In Lily’s honor we are hosting our 4th Annual “Lily’s Birthday Blanket and Friend Drive.” We had an AMAZING turnout last year, we delivered 589 items collected from Lily’s Birthday Blanket and Friend Drive, as well as 70 Chick-Fil-A boxed lunches to patients, families and staff at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. With your help, we are hoping to surpass that number in 2025. Lily ALWAYS had a blanket and a “friend” (as she affectionately called them) with her. She switched blankets frequently and changed her friend frequently also, Minnie mouse was for sure her favorite. When we went to the hospital we brought multiple blankets, we went through quite a few on admissions because of all the side effects of the meds she had. Multiple friends traveled with us also and they never left her side. These things brought her comfort and she truly loved them. We are collecting blankets and friends in an effort to bring comfort to the warriors fighting for their lives at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. We will deliver these at the end of the month.
